Two brothers from Niger Republic arrested for killing a guard over alleged N2.6m deal in Lagos
Two brothers from Niger Republic, Samuna Hussein, 26 and Haruna, 25 have been arrested by the police for allegedly killing and burying a guard, Kola Segun, 39, over an alleged N2.6m deal
The arrest was made following investigations carried out after late Segun's wife filed a missing person's report.
Late Kola Segun worked as a security guard for Multi-Links telecom firm at Oniru but was sacked when he suffered an asthmatic attack while on duty. Raski Yusuf and Saidi Amosun who also worked as security guards in the firm were also arrested by the police.
According to The Nation, One of the suspect, Samuna, called late Segun about a job offer in Lekki Phase 1. Segun informed his wife before he left home to meet with them. However, when her husband didn't return the next day, Mrs Segun went to his former office to look for him but learnt that he was never recalled. She got Samuna's number from the security guards around and tried reaching him.
She called Samuna several times before he picked. He informed her that her husband duped him of N2.6m which he collected under the pretense of helping him acquire a land. She went back to the company in search Samuna Hussien but he wasn't around. She was informed that Samuna asked her to wait inside the premises but she left when she sensed something was wrong.
Mrs Segun then went to the police station where she filed a missing person's report stating that the last time she saw her husband was on 24th November, 2016. The police, recalling that Samuna had been to the station on 24th November to report Late Segun but hurriedly left when he was asked to make a statement, went to the company to make investigations and found out it was the same case. They arrested the Samuna and his brother.
When contacted by the police, an elderly security guard who works in the company revealed that he overhead Samuna and his brother asking late Segun where the money was as they beat him up in the premises but he chased them out in order to avoid trouble.
After initially denying any knowledge of the event, Samuna's brother, Harua later confessed that they buried Segun inside the compound. According to him, they beat him up with hammer until he became unconscious, but he died as they couldn't take him to the hospital because the tricyclist they contacted refused to carry him.
When they realized he had died, they buried him inside the company. They used dried weeds and debris to cover his grave in such a way that no one will have an idea what happened.
The command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said the suspects have been transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).
She said Segun’s body would be exhumed today for autopsy. The suspects would be prosecuted.
